Meeting with Vice Mayor of Xiamen Municipal People’s Government

President of the National Council for Coordination of Cooperation with the Russian Federation and the People’s Republic of China Tomislav Nikolić talked today with Executive Vice Mayor of Xiamen Municipal People’s Government Mr. Huang Xiaozhou.

“The people of China holds your immeasurable contribution to the Sino-Serbian cooperation in very high regard. More than 29 agreements were entered into on the occasion of President Xi Jinping’s recent visit, while the Joint Statement signed by the two Presidents further deepens our collaboration. The Joint Statement and the concluded agreements testify to the fact that we will develop all-round cooperation in the future, not only dominantly in the area of infrastructure, as has been the case so far, but also in the areas such as economy and trade, science and technology, culture and green development, among others. Owing to our two leaders’ deal, Xiamen will consider the ways in which it could make a tangible contribution to the enhancement of Sino-Serbian cooperation. I believe that Xiamen boasts an exceptional economic standard; we have achieved great success in the area of manufacturing. When it comes to Europe, many companies from Xiamen have so far invested in Hungary only, but I hope that they will soon take interest in Serbia, too. Xiamen is home to the country’s largest fair, the China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT), where Serbia will take pride of place this year, too. I am aware of your multiple visits to Xiamen, a city where President Xi Jinping used to work and which has received much of his endorsement. I would like to say that you are always welcome to Xiamen and to the People’s Republic of China,” Mr. Huang Xiaozhou emphasized.

“It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the National Council shortly after your President’s visit. President Xi Jinping’s historic visit will undoubtedly cement our two countries’ relations. Years of fruitful cooperation lie ahead of us; owing to our increasingly closer ties, it will encompass areas other than infrastructure, such as industrial investments, agriculture, clean energy, economy and trade. I expect more mutually beneficial projects to be completed in tandem with PR China in the future. Serbia is one of the few countries in the world to have understood that the future hinges on Chinese wisdom,” Council President Nikolić underscored.
