Great potential for deepening economic cooperation between Serbia and Xiamen

President of the National Council for Coordination of Cooperation with the Russian Federation and PR China Tomislav Nikolić talked today to Mr. Zhuang Rongliang, the Vice Mayor of Xiamen City.

“Serbia and China have achieved much over the past few years, in parallel with the completion of important projects, especially in the areas of infrastructure and energy. The coming into force of the Free Trade Agreement is another step towards deepening our economic cooperation. The City of Xiamen and the Province of Fujian are absolutely invaluable to Serbia, economy-wise. Serbia ZiJin Mining, the largest Serbian exporter, comes from the Province of Fujian, and over the past few years, Serbia has made successful appearances at China’s most important international fair for investment and trade (CIFIT), which takes place in Xiamen. I am aware of the fact that 2025 marks the fifth anniversary since the signing of the sister-province agreement between Fujian and AP Vojvodina and that you are interested in deepening collaboration with the Province, especially in the areas of economy, tourism, culture and sports. I hope that the all-round cooperation will be maintained to our mutual benefit, along with the implementation of individual projects,” Council President Nikolić stressed.

The Vice Mayor of Xiamen City thanked Council President Nikolić for having organised the meetings attended by the Serbian Government and the AP Vojvodina Provincial Government representatives. “Xiamen and Serbia have fostered good cooperation for years now. This year, too, Serbia’s participation in CIFIT was very prominent. Serbia’s Minister of Economy and the Minister of Trade had a number of meetings with Chinese companies. Consequently, the local companies have concluded that there is great potential for deepening economic cooperation between Serbia and Xiamen. I am here today with the aim of planning our future economic cooperation, in the mutual interest. We are particularly interested in enhancing cooperation with Belgrade and AP Vojvodina. Owing to your support to the Sino-Serbian relations, we feel free to further promote Xiamen’s cooperation with Serbia,” Mr. Zhuang Rongliang underlined.

In addition to thanking Council President Nikolić for his years-long support to the One-China policy, Mr. Zhuang Rongliang highlighted that PR China and Serbia had identical stances, which is why the Chinese side respected Serbia’s diplomatic policy.
