Council President Nikolić in meeting with China Energy and ECEPDI: “Successful cooperation with all Chinese companies is my first priority”

President of the National Council for Coordination of Cooperation with the Russian Federation and the People’s Republic of China Tomislav Nikolić talked today to Zhou Yi, Chairman of the Board of East China Electric Power Design Institute (ECEPDI), a branch of China’s China Energy.

In the meeting, Mr. Zhou Yi informed Council President Nikolić of the steps taken so far with the aim of implementing the Smederevo Oil Refinery project. Moreover, he thoroughly acquainted Mr. Nikolić with the work of the Institute, which was founded in 1953, and which has so far successfully completed 225 energy-related projects in the territory of PR China. He particularly highlighted the fact that the Institute had completed 28 out of the 53 nuclear power reactors existing in China. “We stand ready to implement the nuclear energy, renewable energy and energy storage projects in Serbia. China and Serbia exemplify successful, mutually beneficial international cooperation. We are truly grateful for the support you have so far extended to China Energy. I believe in further enhancement of cooperation between our two countries, especially in the areas of infrastructure and energy,” Mr. Zhou Yi underlined.

“The Republic of Serbia and the People’s Republic of China foster strong, stable and developed relations. Today’s economic cooperation is at a historic high. When it comes to the Oil Refinery project, Serbia stands ready to carry out the project that will ultimately result in the production of petroleum products, provided that the environment is protected. The projects featured in the China Energy portfolio are highly current, and Serbia is always welcoming of good investments. Successful cooperation with all Chinese companies is my first priority,” Council President Nikolić underscored.
