After a very cordial and friendly reception by the representatives of China’s “Zijin Mining Group Company Limited”, the National Council President and Serbian Government officials had talks with Mr. Chen Jinghe, Chairman of the Managing Board and Executive Director at “Zijin”.

On the occasion, Mr. Chen Jinghe emphasized the great importance of the fact that the representatives of the National Council and the Government of Serbia had accepted the invitation to visit this Chinese company and witness, at first hand, its work and achievements. Mr. Chen Jinghe underlined that the Bank of China had been supporting and monitoring the development of “Zijin” from the very beginning, while strongly endorsing the idea of the Mining and Smelting Combine Bor privatization.

“The nations with long-established traditions, such as the Serbs and the Chinese, have the ability to recognize each other and to build a genuine friendship together. Of late, we have been witnessing a huge influx of Chinese investments in Serbia; this is but one of the reasons why the people of Serbia is well-inclined to you”, Council President Nikolić emphasized, and he thanked the hosts for extending a very cordial welcome to the Serbian delegation.

After the meeting with representatives of “Zijin”, Mr. Nikolić and the Serbian delegation toured the company’s gold-copper mines and its smelting and rolling plants, where they were introduced to the high technologies used in the production process. The delegation also visited the Museum of Geology, owned by “Zijin”, which primarily aims to be instructive in educating both students and the general public about the mining sector.
