“Xiamen is one of Special Economic Zones in China. We are unrivalled in the electrical equipment manufacturing sector, as well as in medicine and in IT. The hi-tech sector amounts to two thirds of our production, and we also lay stress on service provision. We are constantly developing the areas of international trade, finance, logistics and tourism. Xiamen is an important port city which, historically speaking, used to be the Silk Road’s starting point. Moreover, we are connected to all corners of the world by dint of 160 sea routes. Our transport infrastructure is highly developed, and our rail system connects us with five European cities, thus enabling us to have an even better and larger cooperation with other states, too. Our plan up to 2020 envisages development increase by 8.5%. I would like to underline that the Sino-Serbian economic cooperation prospects are very bright. “Zijin” is an important company located in our city, and we truly hope that you will forge cooperation, in the mutual interest”, Han Jingyi highlighted.

“Mining will bring us together, but it will only provide us with a basis for an even deeper collaboration. China is on the constant rise and is a partner to the entire world. However, China has an imbalance in its import/export ratio, which is unnecessary, having in mind that your people nowadays enjoys a better standard of living, so you can use more imported goods – this is where Serbia is acceptable as a partner. Serbian products meet the European quality standards, and Serbian food is one of the best in Europe in terms of quality. There certainly is room for your cooperation with Serbian entrepreneurs, especially in areas that Xiamen is famous for in China. I am looking forward to the soonest possible intensification of the Sino-Serbian business cooperation”, Council President Nikolić underlined.

The fact that CCTV, China’s state television broadcaster, aired an extensive report from Mr. Nikolić’s meeting with Member of the Politburo Yang Jiechi also testifies to the success of Mr. Nikolić’s visit to China and to the close attention devoted to it.
