Secretary of the Zhejiang CPC Provincial Committee and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People’s Congress Che Jun has sent a letter of appreciation to President of the National Council Tomislav Nikolić, which reads as follows:

“Dear Mr. Nikolić,

We have received your letter. On behalf of the Zhejiang CPC Provincial Committee, the People’s Government of Zhejiang and the people of the Province, I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for the warm wishes that you have extended to us in these dark moments of struggle with the COVID-19 epidemic.

Secretary of the Zhejiang CPC Provincial Committee sends a letter of appreciation to Council President Nikolić

Since the outbreak of the virus, the Communist Party of China and the Chinese authorities, with President Xi Jinping at the helm, have brought the people of China together in an effort to implement comprehensive, strict and thorough measures ensuring prevention and control, which have yielded positive results. This clearly demonstrates the confidence of the people of China in the victory over the disease and a strong sense of responsibility to global public health.

The Province of Zhejiang has resolutely executed all the decisions passed by the central authorities. By making lives and health our top priority, we have been the first Province to launch Level 1 of the public health emergency response (the highest level) and to invest all efforts to contain the spread of the virus. The measures have proven worthwhile and the overall situation is slowly improving. Following a drop in the number of new patients over a number of days, the newly confirmed cases are measured by single digits as of 14th February; the number of the cured patients is growing gradually, and the recovery rate stands at 46.4%, with no fatalities so far. Currently, in addition to the efforts already in place aimed at curbing the epidemic, we are striving to jumpstart the economy, while helping people to slowly return to their normal lives. In addition to our strong belief, we have the capacities and the determination to soon emerge victorious from this struggle, while reaching our social and economic developmental goals.

China and Serbia share a great long-lasting friendship, as has been repeatedly proven. Last May, you accompanied Prime Minister Ana Brnabić on her visit to the Province, and you have now sent us a deeply touching letter of support in these trying times. Allow me to once again express my gratitude to you and to the National Council for the support lent to our Province.

I wholeheartedly invite you to revisit our Province at your earliest convenience”.
