National Council President Tomislav Nikolić and Ambassador of PR China Li Manchang discuss key activities to reinforce cooperation between Serbia and China

President of the National Council for Coordination of Cooperation with the Russian Federation and the People’s Republic of China Tomislav Nikolić met Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the Republic of Serbia Mr. Li Manchang.

The interlocutors discussed key activities to reinforce cooperation between Serbia and China.

Ambassador Li Manchang informed Mr. Nikolić about the latest deals reached by “Shandong” (construction of sections along Corridor 11), the company’s interest in privatizing the Agricultural Combine Belgrade (PKB) and other planned Chinese investments in Serbia.

The two interlocutors particularly discussed President Nikolić’s upcoming visit to China and the talks he is to have with the management of “Zijin”, the company interested in taking over the Mining and Smelting Combine “Bor”.

Ambassador Li Manchang informed Mr. Nikolić that preparations for the establishment and opening of the China-Serbia Chamber of Commerce were in the final stages, expressing his expectation that Mr. Nikolić would accept to hold the title of Honorary President of the newly-founded Chamber. The Ambassador also conveyed his special gratitude to Mr. Nikolić for the establishment of close cooperation between China and the National Council, whose coordination is becoming increasingly prominent and precious vis-à-vis the Chinese entrepreneurs’ heightened interest in investing in Serbia.

In the meeting, the two interlocutors also touched on the forthcoming seminar organized by the Government of China, to be attended by high representatives of Serbia, Bulgaria, Romania and Montenegro.
